Advocate South Suburban Hospital Partners to Offer Support and Advice to Cancer Patients

Advocate South Suburban Hospital, Hazel Crest, Ill., is proud to partner with The Cancer Support Center and the American Cancer Society to bring area cancer patients support and advice.

“The benefit for cancer patients receiving support and meeting with others who are going through the same experience is a complement to any medical treatment provided”, said Jayant Ginde, M.D., Radiation Oncologist at Advocate South Suburban Hospital. 

The Cancer Support Center, with locations in Mokena and Homewood, has begun to offer classes at Advocate South Suburban Hospital.  The programs are offered at no cost to people affected by cancer and their caregivers. Nutrition Q & A: Exploring What We Eat; is an on-going weekly program that provides a discussion on how to eat a research based cancer-fighting diet. Topics ranging from dietary tips to favorite recipes will be discussed. Connecting with Your Creativity is an art therapy program focused on self-discovery and self-care following the diagnosis of cancer. “Look Good…Feel Better” is a public service program created to help women cope with the appearance related changes of cancer treatment. Offered at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, through collaboration with the American Cancer Society, the program is dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life for women undergoing cancer treatment. Advice on make-up application, skin care, nail care, and options related to hair loss are discussed during this two hour class held four times a year at the hospital.
