Bowlers Left Lane-less After Brunswick Zone Closes

Abrupt closure of the Homewood Brunswick Zone location left bowlers stranded mid-season.

The Jan. 5 closing of Homewood’s Brunswick Zone, came as a surprise to hundreds of bowlers playing in leagues at the Homewood venue.

Just as the teams were set to return after their mid-season break, the bowling alley at 3043 W. 183rd St. was shut down for renovations. But one alley’s loss is several others’ gains, as the leagues seek out new homes for the remainder of the season.

Tinley Park Bowl, Oak Forest Bowl combined took in six leagues, Tribune Media reports. Other venues welcoming the rolling refugees include Burr Oak Bowl, Orland Bowl, Centennial Lanes, Lakewood Bowl and Dolton Bowl. While the bowlers might not be fans of relocating mid-season, managers at the newly appointed home lanes aren’t complaining.
