This year's senior trip will be to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum! The trip takes place on Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 am and transportation to and from the library will be provided. Registration opens in person a month prior on May 18th when the library opens at 9:00 am. Space for this trip is very limited, so all patrons requesting a spot will be entered in a raffle. Names will be drawn and patrons will be contacted two weeks before the trip on June 4th. Raffle tickets can only be obtained at the Adult Services desk. This program is only open to HPL cardholders in good standing, ages 60 and over. A signed waiver (available at the Adult Services desk or online) is also required. This trip is sponsored by the AgeOptions grant

Autobahn Country Club

The Glenwood Academy Associate Board will host its first-ever state-of-the-art karting circuit event at the Autobahn Country Club on Sunday, May 17th from 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm. All proceeds will benefit Glenwood Academy. 
Open to ages 21 and above, tickets are $100, and available for purchase by visiting glenwoodacademy.org/autobahn/. This event is expected to sell out. 
This pro-level karting event is perfect for the novice or experienced racer, in a friendly, competitive atmosphere. Karting will be followed by a festive happy hour, which includes light appetizers and drinks.

Come share your rhythmic spirit and drum with us! Participants can expect to connect with others and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of rhythmic entrainment. &nbsp;
Spear-It facilitators&nbsp;will guide participants&nbsp;through&nbsp;a joyful and engaging drum circle experience. A variety of hand drums and small percussion instruments will be provided. No prior musical experience is necessary.<ul>
<li>There is NO CHARGE for this event, but we invite you to bring a CASH DONATION.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Instruments will be provided, but individuals may bring their own hand drum or small percussion if desired.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

We will gather monthly to explore the current astrological sun sign and its unique qualities. Each planet and zodiac sign is connected to specific areas of the physical body, offering insight into how cosmic energies may be reflected within us. Together, we’ll move through a thoughtfully designed yoga practice and incorporate meditation, affirmations, essential oils, journaling prompts, and altar suggestions to help embody and connect with the sign of the season.
The zodiac begins with Aries, the sun sign spanning March 21–April 19. Aries season opens on the Spring Equinox, the sacred midpoint between the winter and summer solstices—a time of balance, renewal, and forward momentum. A fire sign symbolized by the bold and courageous ram, Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of action and vitality. This season invites you to awaken your inner warrior and channel your energy toward growth, courage, and your highest potential.


The phrase&nbsp;“As above, so below”&nbsp;reminds us that the universe and the individual are deeply interconnected, reflecting one another. We’ll discuss the current cosmic influences and explore ways to ground and center ourselves for greater self-awareness, balance, and personal growth.


Please bring your yoga mat and an optional notebook or journal to record insights and revelations.&nbsp;You are invited to come dressed comfortably, bring your yoga mat, and wear anything that helps you feel comfortable when lying down and moving.
When you register, you may pay for a single session, use a class credit from a package, or use your monthly membership.

&nbsp;Gemini season falls between spring and summer, from May 21 to June 21. This shift in energy is the air element moving us along, symbolized by the twins (a sign of duality), representing a light, expansive force that invites us to move outward in our minds and actions. Cancer sun season always occurs at the start of the summer solstice, when the sun is at its highest position in the sky, bringing us longer days and shorter nights, from June 21 to July 22. The crab is the symbol of Cancer, and crabs often molt, shedding their old shell to move on to the next stage of life. Cancer is the only sign ruled by the moon, reminding us to turn inward, listen to our emotions, and find the nourishment needed to grow and evolve.
