Tempest Farm, located off South Yates Avenue, east of Beecher, in Washington Township.

Join the <a href="https://www.reconnectwithnature.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Forest Preserve District of Will County</a> for a "Whooo’s Awake at Tempest Farm?" program from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.&nbsp;The program will be held at <a href="https://www.reconnectwithnature.org/tempest-farm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Tempest Farm</a>, located off South Yates Avenue, east of Beecher, in Washington Township. Program attendees will learn about the raptors of the night sky, make their own owl boxes to take home and tour the grounds of Tempest Farm. Each family will make their own owl box together to take home and hang; one owl box per family. The program is for ages 7 years or older and the fee is $20&nbsp; per family.&nbsp;

Registration is required by Wednesday, Aug. 12.&nbsp;

Homewood Izaak Walton Preserve

Move, breathe, and sit with intention under the open sky. This 40-minute Hatha-based class blends mindful movement, breath-centered practices (Pranayama), and stillness in nature to nourish body and spirit. We’ll begin with gentle, grounding postures, flow into focused breathwork, and close with a short guided meditation—all set against the serene beauty of Izaak Walton Preserve. 
Join us at the south entrance off Ridge Road for a practice that reconnects you to your breath, body, and the earth beneath you.To ensure that you can maximize the relaxing benefits of yoga, please note the following:

<li>Class begins promptly at the time listed on the calendar.</li>
<li>Please plan to arrive between 10-15 minutes before class starts.</li>
<li>This class takes place at Izaak Walton Preserve. 
<ul>
<li>Enter the parking lot off of Ridge Rd. </li>
<li>At the stop sign turn right. </li>
<li>We will meet in the opening between the two cabins.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Bring your own yoga mat, a large blanket or plastic shower curtain to place under your mat, and a blanket to sit on for elevating the pelvis.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Please stay home if you feel sick in any way (COVID-related or not).</li>
<li>In the event of inclement weather (typically rain), this class will be canceled and will not be rescheduled or moved indoors.&nbsp;</li>
<li>If you are unable to attend a class that you have registered for, please deregister as soon as possible.&nbsp;</li>
<li>If you do not deregister at least one hour before the start of class, a credit will be deducted from your account. If you are a Monthly Unlimited member and you do not deregister at least one hour before class begins, you will be charged the drop-in rate for a single class.</li>

In this special session, we will practice a carefully selected kriya designed to support personal growth and conscious expansion. As nature continues to flourish and stretch toward the light, we are invited to do the same. Through dynamic movement, intentional breathwork, mantra, and meditation, we will work to clear limiting patterns, strengthen our inner vitality, and create space for new possibilities to emerge. This practice encourages courage, self-awareness, and a willingness to grow beyond old habits and perceived limitations.
We will close with an immersive sound bath featuring gong and crystal singing bowls, allowing the body and nervous system to fully integrate the practice. These powerful frequencies support deep relaxation, energetic balance, and inner alignment, helping you embody the intentions and insights cultivated throughout the evening.

Together, we’ll explore how these cosmic influences may show up physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically. Through a thoughtfully designed yoga practice, meditation, affirmations, essential oils, journaling prompts, and altar suggestions, we’ll create space to embody and connect with the season's wisdom.
The phrase “As above, so below” reminds us that the universe and the individual are deeply interconnected, reflecting one another. These gatherings are not about predicting the future or needing extensive astrological knowledge. Instead, they are an opportunity to slow down, observe the energies present within and around us, and use them as tools for greater self-awareness, grounding, balance, and personal growth.
You are invited to come dressed comfortably and wear anything that helps you feel comfortable when lying down and moving. Please bring a yoga mat and an optional notebook or journal to record reflections, insights, and intentions.
When you register, you may pay for a single session, use a class credit from a package, or use your monthly membership.
