The Cancer Support Center celebrates National Caregivers Month on Tuesday, November 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at its Homewood location, 2028 Elm Road. All caregivers are welcome to join this self-care workshop, offered at no cost.
The self-care workshop provides an opportunity for caregiver to network with other caregivers who are facing similar struggles and learn about several topics related to the caregiver experience including: self-care, family roles, relationships with friends and family & stress management. This program will focus on stress reeducation techniques including Reiki share, provided by Insight Awareness Reiki Practitioners and guided imagery.
The Cancer Support Center is here to give strength, guidance and support to anyone living with a cancer diagnosis, as well as to their loved ones. The Center does this as a community-based, volunteer-driven, donor-supported organization. Programs, resources and services are always delivered by professional therapists, counselors, nutritionists, and experts; and are provided in a warm, welcoming and nurturing setting. In 2014, The Center provided more than 10,600 hours of service in programming to nearly 4,600 people in 70 communities in the Chicago Southland. The Center has locations in Homewood and Mokena as well as provides services off-site at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, The University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Care at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights.
