The Cancer Support Center welcomes the author of Half of My Life and cancer survivor, Melissa Novak, for a special writer workshop.

The Cancer Support Center welcomes the author of Half of My Life and cancer survivor, Melissa Novak, for a special writer workshop on Monday, November 9, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., its Mokena location, 19657 South LaGrange Road, Mokena, Ill. 60448. This program is offered to anyone living with cancer as well as caregivers and family members at no charge.
In response to being diagnosed with stage I lymphoma, Melissa Novak wrote a fictional book entitled, Half My Life, to help others relate to dealing with a cancer diagnosis. In this workshop, Melissa will share a reading from her book and help participants use writing and fiction as a means of self-expression.

The Cancer Support Center does this as a community-based, volunteer-driven, donor-supported organization. Programs, resources and services are always delivered by professional therapists, counselors, nutritionists, and experts; and are provided in a warm, welcoming and nurturing setting. In 2014, The Center provided more than 10,600 hours of service in programming to nearly 4,600 people in 70 communities in the Chicago Southland. The Center has locations in Homewood and Mokena as well as provides services off-site at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, The University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Care at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights.
