Crack Pipe Found On Retail Theft Suspect At Menards: Cops

Police say a small amount of cocaine was found on one of two women accused of stealing from Kohl's.

The following information is from the Homewood Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Retail Theft

Michael Carlisle, 45, of Hammond, Indiana was charged with theft by emergency exit (attempt) at Walmart, 17550 S. Halsted St. at 6 p.m. on June 19. Carlisle placed a television in a shopping cart and attempted to exit the store through the emergency exit door without paying for the merchandise which had a total retail value of $198.

Carl Hall, 45, of Dolton was charged with retail theft at Jewel-Osco, 3153 W. 183rd St. at 9:30 a.m. on June 15. Hall concealed several bottles of alcohol in a backpack and exited the store without making payment for the items which had a total retail value of $139.72.

Kimberly McGee, 48, of South Holland was charged with retail theft and felony identity theft at 8:10 p.m. on June 15 at Kohl's, 17620 S. Halsted St. McGee concealed several perfume bottles in her purse and exited the store without making payment for the items which paying for the items which had a total retail value $181.50. McGee was also in possession of a fraudulent drivers license and credit card.

Mark Letts, 60, of Calumet City was charged with retail theft, obstructing identification and possession of drug equipment at Menards, 17545 S. Halsted St. at 8:36 a.m. on June 14. Letts concealed merchandise and exited the store without making payment for the item which had a total retail value of $28.99. Letts had in his possession a pipe commonly used to ingest crack cocaine. Letts provided officers with fraudulent names and dates of birth.

Clifton Williams, 45, of Chicago Heights was charged with retail theft at Walmart, 17550 S. Halsted St. at 11:27 p.m. on June 8. Williams selected items from the sales area and then presented them at customer service for a return, without ever having purchased the items which had a total retail value of $138.71.

John Brown, 57, of South Holland and Kelly Wynne, 49, of Harvey were charged with retail theft at Walmart, 17550 S. Halsted St. at 2:04 p.m. on June 10. Brown and Wynne concealed items and passed the final point of purchase without making payment for the items which had a total retail value of $122.39.

Tonet Jones, 52, of Riverdale was charged with retail theft at Walmart, 17550 S. Halsted St. at 1:33 p.m. on June 11. Jones concealed items and passed the final point of purchase without making payment for the items which had a total retail value of $199.17.

Sandra Leal, 53, of Sauk Village and Tomeka Glass, 40, of Steger were charged with retail theft at Kohl's, 17605 S. Halsted St. at 7:24 p.m. on June 10. Leal and Glass placed items in a shopping cart and passed the final point of purchase without making payment for the items which had a total retail value of $661.96. Security sensors had been removed from two of the items. Glass had in her possession approximately .1 gram of a white powdery substance (suspect cocaine).

Unlawful Use of a Weapon

James Barsh, 18, of the 18300 block of Cherry Creek Drive was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon at 12:18 p.m. on June 13 in the 1900 block of Hickory Road. Barsh had in his possession a SCCY firearm.

Traffic Crash

Lucila Gonzalez, 47, of Lansing was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 2:49 p.m. on June 14 at 183rd Street and Governors Highway.

Driving While Suspended

Homewood police have also arrested several people for driving on suspended or revoked licenses over the last two weeks.
