D228 Board of Education Recognizes Jason Thomas of 3 Seeds Mentoring
Jason Thomas and 3 Seeds Mentoring provide college and career readiness opportunities for students

At its November meeting, the D228 Board of Education recognized Mr. Jason Thomas, Executive Director of 3 Seeds Mentoring Group. Mr. Thomas formed the 3 Seeds Mentoring Program because he has an affinity for young people and through his life’s work has learned that without purpose or direction, young people will continue to be stuck in survival mode. He believes that we all have a responsibility as educated professionals to give back in whatever capacity we are blessed with, be it time, treasure or talent. Jason is very active here in the south suburban communities and is also a proud member of the 100 Black Men of Chicago and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Recently, he and his organization started working at Hillcrest High School to provide college and career readiness opportunities for our students through a grant he received from the federal government. The grant is for a total of $1.2 million over a five year period. Their primary goal is to assist students with college enrollment and career readiness strategies, specifically focusing on first generation and low income students. 3 Seeds Mentoring will support students by exposing them to career fields, developing their creative abilities through various workshops, field trips, and events as well as building character through community service and advocacy projects. Mr. Jason Thomas most recently served as the Director of the TRiO Talent Search Program at Prairie State College. He is married to Dr. Latoi Thomas. His wife operates a mobile dentistry company in the south suburbs. Together they have three beautiful children.
