JUNE 4

Domestic Battery

Darron Protho, 47, of the 2100 block of Downey Road, was arrested and charged with domestic battery, theft and obstructing a peace officer after a June 4 incident, according to Homewood police reports.

Police responded to a call at about 2:10 a.m., concerning a woman screaming for help in the 2100 block of Downey Road, the report stated. At the scene, officers found a woman lying on the ground outside, the report added.

Police chased after Protho and apprehended him in the 2200 block of Willow Road, the report stated. Along with battery, Protho also is accused of stealing the victim’s purse and Samsung cellphone before leaving the house, the report added.

The victim was taken to South Suburban Hospital and treated for her injuries, the report stated.

JUNE 3

Peacock Stolen from Lawn

A peacock lawn ornament was reported stolen June 3 from its home in the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue, according to Homewood police reports. The ornament was estimated to cost $50, the report stated.

Laptop Stolen from Car

A laptop computer was reported stolen June 3 from a car parked in a driveway in the 1700 block of Terrace Road, according to Homewood police. The homeowner was talking to someone about a fence estimate in his backyard when the computer was taken, the report stated.

JUNE 1

Window Shot Out by BB Gun

A home storm window in the 1700 block of West 183rd Street was damaged after it was shot by a BB gun sometime during the week before Memorial Day, according to Homewood police reports.

Police were contacted about the damage June 1 by the homeowner. The BB left a small hole in the second-floor storm window, and the homeowner estimated the replacement cost at $50, the report stated.

MAY 30

Felony Retail Theft

Sean Aristuk 38, of Krotiak Road, Park Forest, was arrested and charged with felony retail theft after being accused of trying to shoplift almost $400 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 17620 S. Halsted St., according to Homewood police reports.

The store’s loss prevention agent told police he saw Aristuk take clothing worth $388 and try to leave the store without paying, the report stated. As Aristuk tried to leave the store, the security alarms went off, and he still tried to exit, the report added.

MAY 28

Counterfeit Credit Cards

Garrick McKinney, 22, of the 6500 block of South Campbell Street, Chicago, was arrested and charged with possession of counterfeit credit cards, resisting a peace officer and criminal damage to property after a May 28 incident, according to Homewood police reports.

Police responded at about 2 p.m. to a report from National Bank, 3153 183rd St., about a man trying to use a phony credit card to withdraw $875, the report stated. Bank employees accused McKinney of using a red NFL Visa debit card with a fraudulent number, the report added.

When police confronted McKinney, he tried to flee the bank, the report added. As police tried to take McKinney into custody, he pulled his arms and body away and struggled with officers, the report added. Police eventually were able to subdue McKinney, according to the report.
