Hazel Crest Man Caught Behind the Wheel of Stolen Car: Blotter

Homewood police reports, Feb. 5–10.

TUESDAY, FEB. 10

DUI

Charles Harper, 76, of the 500 block of Gordon Avenue, Calumet City, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper parking in a roadway after a Feb. 10 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Police found Harper and his car at about 1:21 a.m., parked in the right lane of northbound Dixie Highway, north of 183rd Street, the report stated. Harper told police that he had stop there to “get his bearings,” the report added.

DUI

Kevin Beene, 35, of the 17500 block of Winston Drive, Country Club Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol, speeding, driving without proof of insurance and driving without front registration after a Feb. 10 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Police clocked Beene going 53 mph in a 40-mph zone at about 2:44 a.m., in the 2100 block of Governors Highway, the report stated. Police also noticed that the gray Chevrolet Trailblazer Beene was driving did not have a front registration plate, the report added.

Details concerning the DUI charges were redacted from the police report.

Possession of Marijuana

Dia Swan, 40, of the 17600 block of Hillcrest Drive, Country Club Hills, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, driving with one headlight and illegal transportation of alcohol in an open container after a Feb. 10 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Police pulled over Swan at about 5:14 p.m., in the 18800 block of Halsted Street, after observing her driving with only one working headlight, the report stated. Details about the other charges were redacted from the police report.

SUNDAY, FEB. 8

Retail Theft

George Flennoy, 34, of the 17900 block of Normandy Lane, Hazel Crest, was arrested and charged with retail theft and driving without a valid license after a Feb. 8 incident at Jewel Osco, 3153 W. 183rd St., according to Homewood police reports.

Flennoy is accused of taking a case of beer, valued at $30.34, from the store and driving away with it in a blue Pontiac, the report stated. Flennoy eventually was apprehended by police, but that information was redacted from the police report.

SATURDAY, FEB. 7

Possession of Stolen Vehicle

Deandre Baron, 18, of the 17000 block of Shea Avenue, Hazel Crest, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without insurance, improper lane use, driving with only headlight and two counts of disobeying a stop sign after a Feb. 7 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Police observed Baron driving with one headlight southbound on Dixie Highway at 175th Street at about 2:57 a.m., the report stated. A check of registration on the green Chevrolet Lumina showed that it had been reported stolen as of Jan. 30, out of Harvey, the report added. The officer radioed for assistance before pulling over Baron, according to the report.

A passenger in the car—Jason Hinton, 19, 2100 block of 171st Street, Hazel Crest—also was charged with criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, the report stated.

THURSDAY, FEB. 5

DUI

Laura Krizka, 52, of the 13500 block of Little Creek Drive, Homer Glen, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit, driving without proof of insurance, driving without a rear registration light and improper lane use after a Feb. 5 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

After noticing Krizka weave between lanes, police pulled her over at about 1:49 a.m., in the 17700 block of Kedzie Avenue, the report stated. During the stop, the officer detected an odor of alcohol on Krizka’s breath and noticed her eyes were glossy and red, the report added.

The report also noted that her blood-alcohol content registered 0.178.


Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing

Kelly Little, 46, of the 200 block of Nauvoo Street, Park Forest, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass after a Feb. 5 incident, according to Homewood police reports.

A woman contacted police at about 3:22 p.m. after seeing Little parked in the driveway of her residence, the report stated. In May 2014, Little was warned by authorities to stay away from the victim, and she agreed to have no further contact with the woman, the report added.
