Homewood police reports, May 2–8.

FRIDAY, MAY 8

DUI

Ricky Taylor Jr., 23, of the 17800 block of Commercial Avenue, Lansing, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit, driving with a suspended license, driving without proof of insurance and improper lane use after a May 8 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Police pulled over Taylor at around 1:53 a.m. after seeing him drive erratically while traveling eastbound on 183rd Street, near Aberdeen Street, the report stated. Taylor took a breath test that registered a 0.143 blood-alcohol content, the report added.

Possession of a Controlled Substance

Chadwick Fulwiley, 42, of the 2400 block of Apache Avenue, Sauk Village, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance after a May 7 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Police approached Fulwiley’s vehicle at about 8:30 p.m., because it was parked with its lights off in the right lane of 183rd Street, east of Governors Highway, the report stated. Three people at the scene told police they were going to help Fulwiley push his vehicle after they saw him stop it in the street and stagger to a nearby church, the report added.

Fulwiley was taken into custody after a computer check found that his license had been suspended, the report stated. A vehicle inventory uncovered a pouch containing a cigar and a folded piece of foil with a black substance, which field tested as PCP, the report added. Several hand-rolled, burnt cigarettes also were found in the vehicle’s ashtray and were were sent to the state crime lab, according to the report.

TUESDAY, MAY 5

Retail Theft

Charissee Hill, 49, of the 16600 block of Lowe Avenue, Harvey, was arrested and charged with retail theft after being accused of trying to get store credit for items she didn’t buy, according to Homewood police reports.

An employee at Kohl’s, 17620 S. Halsted St., watched Hill take two pairs of jeans from a display May 5 and put them in a plastic bag, the report stated. She then took the jeans to the customer service desk, asked to return the merchandise and was given a $65.92 in store credit, the report added.

Felony Retail Theft

Casey Richmond, 42, of the 200 block of 159th Street, Harvey, was arrested and charged with felony retail theft and possession of a controlled substance after being accused of scamming a retailer out of store credit, according to Homewood police reports.

An employee at Kohl’s, 17620 S. Halsted St., told police he saw Richmond on closed-circuit TV on May 5 take multiple clothing items from a display and put them in a plastic bag, the report stated. Richmond then took the items to the customer service desk and asked to return them, the report added. He was given $180.76 in store credit, according to the report.

Details about why Richmond was charged with possession of a controlled substance was redacted from the report.

MONDAY, MAY 4

Retail Theft

Melody Martin, 27, 15800 block of Page Avenue, Harvey, was arrested and charged with retail theft after being accused of shoplifting water filters May 4 from Menards, 17545 S. Halsted St., according to Homewood police reports.

The store’s loss prevention agent told police he saw Martin put two Dupont universal-fit water filters, valued at $58.90, into her purse and go to the checkout, the report stated. Martin paid for other small items at the checkout but not the filters, the report added. The loss prevention agent then stopped Martin as she tried to leave the store, according to the report.

SUNDAY, MAY 3

DUI

Nicolas Rosario, 20, of the 17900 block of Oakwood Avenue, Lansing, was cited for driving under the influence of drugs and improper parking on a roadway, according to Homewood police reports.

Police responded to a report at about 4:37 a.m., May 3, of a silver Pontiac Grand Prix parked in the eastbound left lane of 183rd Street, near Governors Highway, the report stated. Rosario was sleeping in the driver’s seat, and he woke up when the officer knocked on the window, the report added. When the officer began talking with Rosario, he could smell marijuana coming from inside the Grand Prix, according to the report.

SATURDAY, MAY 2

DUI Drugs

Paige Doss, 19, 1400 block of Pinewood Court, University Park, was cited with driving under the influence of drugs, driving without proof of insurance and improper lane use after a May 4 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Police pulled over Doss at about 2:38 a.m., in the 17900 block of Governors Highway, the report stated. When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed Doss had been crying and that her eyes were red and bloodshot, the report added.

Details concerning why she was cited have been redacted in the report.
