Felony Drug Charges, Retail Theft, Aggravated DUI: Blotter
Homewood police reports, Jan. 29–Feb. 4.

THURSDAY, FEB. 4
Felony Drug Offenses
Anthony Guillermo, 32, of the 200 block of Raye Drive, Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with a variety of felony drug offenses after a Feb. 4 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

The drug charges against Guillermo included:
- the manufacture and delivery of cocaine, a Class 1 felony
- the manufacture and delivery of marijuana, a Class 3 felony
- possession of cocaine, a Class 3 felony
- possession of marijuana, a Class 4 felony
- possession of a Schedule 2 drug, a Class 4 felony
- possession of drug paraphernalia
Guillermo also was charged with failure to signal and driving without insurance.

Police stopped Guillermo at about 7:49 p.m. in the 18300 block of Ashland Avenue after he abruptly pulled into traffic and then changed lanes twice without signalling, the report stated. During the stop, the officer detected a strong pot odor coming from Guillermo’s vehicle, the report added. A clear plastic bag containing a green, plant substance could be seen in the driver’s door pocket, and the officer also saw a glass pipe in the vehicle’s center cup holder, according to the report.
A search of the vehicle uncovered six loose orange pills in the center console, and multiple packages of narcotics were seen in a partially opened backpack in the vehicle, the report stated.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 3
DUI, BAC over .08
Katrina Sharp, of the 3600 block of Laurel Lane, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit and disobeying a traffic signal after a Feb. 3 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.
Police pulled over Sharp at about 12:25 a.m. after she ran a red light at the intersection of Governors Highway and 183rd Street, the report stated. During the stop, police reported that Sharp’s eyes were glossy and bloodshot, her speech was slurred, and an odor of alcohol could be detected on her breath.
Sharp later registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.173, the report stated. The legal limit is 0.08.
TUESDAY, FEB. 2
Shoplifting
Anthony Shadd, 25, of the 15900 block of State Street, South Holland, was arrested and charged with retail theft after being accused of shoplifting an electronic device from Kohl’s, according to Homewood police reports.
The loss prevention agent for the store, 17620 W. 183rd St., noticed Shadd remove a Sony Bluetooth speaker system totalling $179 from its box and take it into a fitting room, the report stated. Shadd then walked out of the fitting room and tried to exit the store without paying for speaker system, the report added.
SUNDAY, JAN. 31
Retail Theft
Cherise Tompkins, 41, 4100 block of 192nd Street, Country Club Hills, was arrested and charged with retail theft after being accused of stealing almost $50 worth of merchandise from Jewel, according to Homewood police reports.
The loss prevention agent for the store, 3153 W. 183rd St., noticed Tompkins take three cans of soup and four cosmetic items totalling $48.78 from the shelves and put them into her coat pockets, the report stated. Tompkins then tried to leave Jewel without paying for the items, the report added.
FRIDAY, JAN. 29
Speeding, Disobeying Traffic Signal
Ishmel Blade, 36, of the 4300 block of 176th Place, Country Club Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving in the wrong lane, speeding, disobeying a traffic signal and driving without a valid license after a Jan. 29 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.
Police clocked Blade going 51 mph in a 35-mph zone at about 8:22 a.m. while traveling eastbound along 183rd Street, the report stated. As Blade passed Governors Highway, he began traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of 183rd Street until Argyle Avenue, the report added. He then ran the red light at 183rd Street and Harwood Avenue, according to the report.
Blade was finally pulled over by police in the alley between Martin and Morris avenues, the report stated. Once stopped, Blade got out of his vehicle and fled on foot down the alley, the report added. Police eventually caught up with Blade and took him into custody, according to the report.
Aggravated DUI
Michael Hult, 53, 300 Bradley Drive, Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, endangering the life of a child, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance after a Jan. 29 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.
Police pulled over Hult at about 5:17 p.m. in the 2400 block of 183rd Street after allegedly weaving in and out of lanes of traffic, the report stated. During the stop, police noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Hult’s breath, the report added.
A background check revealed Hult had two previous DUI convictions, the report stated. Although he was charged with child endangerment, the police report did not provide any details concerning that offense..
