Fight At Flossmoor Fest Under Investigation

Flossmoor police are investigating a fight involving several young people at a park near Flossmoor Fest last weekend.

FLOSSMOOR, IL - Several people were involved in a fight near the festivities at Flossmoor Fest last weekend, Flossmoor police officials have confirmed. Deputy Police Chief Tod Kamleiter said police are "still in the process of the investigation" that the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle reported to have occurred around 6 p.m. on Saturday on Sterling Avenue just north of Flossmoor Road.

Kamleiter called it "an isolated incident" which involved a number of juveniles "who engaged in a physical altercation following a dispute during a basketball game in a nearby park."

Police arrived on the scene quickly, according to Kamleiter, and arrests were made. Charges remain pending as of Thursday.

"It was very unfortunate for it to occur in the first place, but most unfortunate that it took place at that time and place, where the so many people were gathered enjoying the fest," Kamleiter said.

The Chronicle reports that toward the end of the fight one of the people involved went through the window of a business on Sterling Avenue.
