Firehouse Visits

IJP Preschool and Kindergarten Students Tour the Flossmoor Fire Department

Last week our Kindergarten and Preschool students went on walking field trips to the Flossmoor Fire Department. The Kindergarten class went on Tuesday; the Three-Year-Old Preschool class went on Wednesday; and the Four-Year-Old Preschool class went on Friday. During the field trips, the students had the opportunity to sit in the fire trucks and engines; to watch a firefighter put on all their gear while explaining the uses of the clothing and equipment; and to see where the firefighters eat, sleep and relax, when not out on a call. At the end of the visit each of the students received their own firefighter hat. The Kindergarten Class was also fortunate enough to meet a former IJP student, who is now a Captain in the Flossmoor Fire Department—Captain Matthew Berk! Thank you for a fun and educational visit, Flossmoor Fire Department!
