Five Generations of Women Will Walk Together for Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana (RMHC(R)-CNI) in the Running for Hope 5K Run/Fun Walk

Running for Hope 5K Run/Fun Walk will be held on June 7 at 8:00a.m. at Keeler Park (93rd and Keeler) in Oak Lawn, Illinois

This Sunday, five generations of women will participate in the Running for Hope 5K Run/Fun Walk. Rose Torphy, the matriarch of the family, is turning 100 years old on September 29 of this year. She stresses the importance of giving back to one’s community and has shared her secrets for a long life: prayer, exercise and a glass of red wine daily! Her family is participating in the race for the second time and is proudly walking in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Rose’s daughter, Cheri took her mother’s message of altruism to heart and currently works as a nurse for Continuum Pediatric Nursing providing in-home care for chronically ill children. Rose’s granddaughter Lisa, also became a nurse and works for Kids First Pediatrics on 30 in Dyer, Indiana. Both women have worked closely with Ronald McDonald House Charities and have experienced its impact first-hand with their patients and families.

Two of Rose’s great granddaughters, Michelle and Jessica, will be 6-7 months pregnant at the race. Rose’s great, great grandchildren, Autumn, Olivia, Cooper and Jack, ages 5, 4, 3 and 2, respectively, round out the family. Also walking in the race are Rose’s granddaughter Lori, Rose’s great granddaughters: Trisha and Nikki and Rose’s great, great grandchildren who are walking in utero: Archer and Chase.

Allying with Ronald McDonald House is a natural partnership for the Torphy family. With close ties to the medical world and in keeping with Rose’s central mission of giving back to one’s community, they have chosen to support an organization dedicated to bettering the lives of young patients and their families. By participating in the race, Rose’s family not only supports the charity but also embodies Ronald McDonald House’s core values of a supportive community and the power of familial togetherness.

Join Rose’s family this Sunday as they come together to support Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana (RMHC®-CNI) at the Running for Hope 5K in Oak Lawn.
