Flossmoor Man Arrested with Loaded Gun at Thompson Center

The man said he forgot the weapon was in his computer bag, police said.

A Flossmoor man tried to pass through a Thompson Center security checkpoint with a loaded gun, according to the State Police, and now he faces three felony charges: unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm in a prohibited area and no valid firearm owner’s ID card.

Darren Collier, 49, put a computer bag through an X-ray machine, which revealed the .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun inside, police said. Collier told police he forgot the gun was in the bag and that he needed the weapon for protection.
