Flossmoor Police Ramp Up Speed Enforcement Patrols In July
Expect to see more patrols for speeding July 7–August 1.
FLOSSMOOR, IL — The Flossmoor Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois State Police and more than 200 other local law enforcement agencies to step up enforcement efforts across Illinois in an effort to reduce speeding. Throughout the month of July, motorists can expect increased patrols looking for speeding, as well as other traffic violations.
“Speeding causes unnecessary danger on our roads,” said Flossmoor Police Chief Carl Estelle. “It greatly reduces a driver’s ability to steer safely around another vehicle, a hazardous object or an unexpected curve. Speeding puts drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other motorists at tremendous risk.”
Officers in Flossmoor will be increasing their enforcement of posted speed limits this month. This is one of several enforcement efforts in Flossmoor that have been made possible with federal traffic safety funds, administered by IDOT. Most recently, Flossmoor issued eight seat belt citations and eight other traffic-related citations during the 4th of July Click It or Ticket safety campaign.
