Follow the Journey of a Rescued Bait Dog

Everyone, meet Lefty. She has quite the story to tell.

What happens when a good dog abandoned in a crate on a dead end street finds her way into the hands of people who care? South Suburban Humane Society wants to show you.

Meet “Lefty,” a 3-year-old pit bull that was found Feb. 26 in Lansing, “abandoned in a dirty crate ... with no food or water. It had been snowing all night and into the morning, and wind chill temperatures were well below freezing.”

When Animal Control rescued Lefty and brought her to South Suburban Humane Society, her wounds suggested that she was likely used as a bait dog. Now, Lefty is in good hands at SSHS, but her journey isn’t over yet.
