Liz's Mindful Mondays: Weekly Reflections + Inspiration from the Heart of Serendipity Yoga and Wellness

Dear Reader,

This past Saturday, I participated in the No Kings protest in downtown Chicago. Marching through the heart of the city, surrounded by thousands of people willing to stand for what they believe in, felt both humbling and empowering. There was a sense of shared purpose, a collective energy, and a deep remembering that our voices matter.

In the midst of it all, a conversation with friends stayed with me. We reflected on how we, as individuals and as a collective, often relate to freedom in two different ways: freedom from and freedom to.

Freedom from is about resistance. It is about pushing against what feels unjust, limiting, or harmful. And there is a time and place for that. It matters.

But freedom to is something different. It is creative. It is expansive. It asks, “What am I choosing to move toward? What am I building, embodying, and becoming?”

This week, I invite you to gently shift your perspective. Notice where your energy is focused on what you are trying to escape or avoid. Then, see if you can soften into a different set of questions:

What am I free to create? What am I free to choose? What am I free to become?

Let this be a quiet reorientation. Not a denial of what is difficult, but an expansion into what is possible.

Shanti (Peace),
Liz

Inspire | “Decide what is sacred to you, and put your best life energies at its service. Make that the focus of your studies, your work, the test for your pleasures, and your relationships. Don’t ever let fear or craving for security turn you aside.” Starhawk

Listen | As winter softens into spring, accumulated heaviness begins to move through the body, often showing up as sluggish digestion, congestion, low appetite, or a lingering sense of heaviness. While it can feel uncomfortable, Ayurveda recognizes this as a natural seasonal shift, not an innate problem. If you’d like to learn how to work with this energy rather than against it, listen to this episode of Everyday Ayurveda with Kate.

Try This | As we move through the final days of March, take a moment to slow down and check in with yourself. This is a gentle time of transition, not a finish line, and you don’t need to have everything figured out to move forward. Take some time this week to repeat these affirmations and allow them to guide you into April with a little more ease, presence, and peace:

I don’t have to have it all figured out. I am allowed to take my time. I trust that small steps matter. I do not need to rush what is meant for me. I choose to stay present and grounded in this moment.

What are you free to do or explore this week?
