Glenwood Academy's Samiyah Wright is the June Student of the Month

Samiyah Wright has been chosen as the Glenwood Academy Student of the Month! Samiyah is 11 years old and is in sixth grade. She has been at Glenwood Academy for two years.

Samiyah loves all her subjects at Glenwood Academy but her favorite subject is reading. Her favorite teacher this year is Mr. Eno who teaches Language Arts. She also plays sports at Glenwood and loves cheerleading and playing volleyball.

She hopes to attend Marian Catholic High School when she is older. And eventually, Samiyah’s dream is to be a pediatrician.

“My favorite thing about Glenwood Academy is everyone is family at Glenwood,” says Samiyah.

Glenwood Academy Glenwood Academy provides life-changing situations for students who come from challenging situations, and who have been impacted by poverty, violence, inadequate educational systems, as well as a lack of basic resources, such as food and shelter. Located in Glenwood, Ill., 35 miles south of Chicago, Glenwood Academy is a supportive learning community serving over 150 children ranging from ages seven to 24 from 60 communities throughout the Greater Chicago area. Nearly 100% of our children live at or below the poverty line and 92% come from single parent households.
