GSU's Center for Performing Arts Turns up the Heat with Ch?vere de Chicago
Latin/jazz/funk/blues band at GSU for one night only

On November 21 at 8 p.m., the Center for Performing Arts will be ‘en fuego’ when composer, virtuoso pianist and master harmonica player, Howard Levy, his long-time comrades in the Latin/jazz/funk/blues band, Chévere de Chicago for a night filled with Latin inspiration. The band will also welcome special guest Gammy-nominated Trumpeter, Victor Garcia (of CALJE, Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble).
What does Chévere (SHEH-ver-ay) mean? It’s an expression that means everything’s OK. Everything’s fine, awesome, the best…Everything’s cool. And so they are.
Chévere de Chicago is one of Chicago’s hottest bands. As Chicago’s leading Latin/Jazz/Funk/Blues Band, Chévere mixes Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Jazz, Blues, and just about everything else together into an exciting and unique collage of sound. Characterized by high voltage percussion and compelling original compositions, Chévere has performed in and around Chicago and the Midwest for more than 30 years.
