Gunfire Exchanged In Attempted Car Theft: Homewood PD

The attempted car theft happened in a parking lot at 176th and Halsted Street.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A man exchange gunfire with someone trying to steal his car Tuesday afternoon, Homewood Police said in an alert.

The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. in a parking lot at 176th and Halsted Street. Police were called for a report of an attempted car theft and shots fired. The victim saw someone trying to steal his car, and the two exchanged gunfire, police said.

The offender fled north on Halsted Street in a silver sedan, police said.

The victim was not injured during the incident. Shell casings were recovered from the scene by police.
