H-F Junior Gets Perfect ACT Score Without Studying
Allie Mangel of Homewood didn't need any test prep and still nearly went perfect on the SAT three days later.

HOMEWOOD, IL — It’s not just that Homewood-Flossmoor High School junior Allie Mangel of Homewood got a perfect 36 on her ACT without studying or taking any prep classes. It’s that she did it just three days apart from reaching a near perfect score on an even more challenging SAT exam.
The Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle tells the story of Mangel, who is part of just an estimated 0.10 percent of high school juniors who earn a perfect score on her ACT. Her SAT total -- 1580 -- was just 20 points away from a perfect 1600, but she has no plans to retake the test to achieve double perfection.

“My SAT score was not perfect unfortunately, but it was really close,” Mangel told the Chronicle. “It’s a 1580 so that’s good. It’s really frustrating to be so close, but it’s a good score.”
But even though Mangel won’t need to take any college entrance exams during her senior year, she isn’t quite sure whether she will be among the members of the school’s Orchestra to take part in an unprecedented school trip to Cuba in 2018.

“It’s such a busy time of year and it might conflict with some college things,” said Magel, a violin player since fourth grade.
