Children's Bike Raffle Tickets To Be Distributed On Parade Route

HAZEL CREST - Hazel Crest Village President Vernard L. Alsberry Jr., invites residents to bring family and friends to the annual Hazelnut Parade & Festival to be held on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4. The two-day festival is held on the Village Hall Grounds at 3000 W. 170th Place in Hazel Crest.
“We invite all south suburban residents to Hazelnut to enjoy fun competitions and games, vendors and entertainment,” said Village President Vernard L. Alsberry, Jr. “Admission is free, but everyone will want to bring money to shop with vendors, including food vendors. I look forward to crowning winners of the Royal Court, tasting delicious chicken wings in the cookoff, seeing classic and vintage cars, and, of course, enjoying the musical performers. With the help of volunteers and sponsors, Hazelnut offers something for everyone to enjoy.”
Hazelnut starts Saturday, August 3 at 11:00 AM when the parade starts from the corner of Laurel Lane and Elm Avenue – just east of the Highland Elementary School. Parade route: Laurel Lane to Elm Avenue (south), to 173rd Street (east) to Kedzie Avenue (south) to 175th Street, then (east) on 175th, turning (north) onto California ending at 171st Street near the village grounds. Children along the parade route will receive school supplies and raffle tickets for a chance to win brand new bikes. (The Bike Raffle will be conducted later Saturday at the festival).
