HF Students Spread Kindness At Western Avenue School

More than 50 high school students spent part of their day off participating in the first ever "Kindness Week" at an area elementary school.

FLOSSMOOR, IL - Students at Western Avenue School in Flossmoor learned about the importance of kindness during all of last week and had it capped off with a visit from more than 50 students at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, who showed them it's #cool2bkind. The national trend spread to Western, where two teachers led the school's first ever "Kindness Week."

The effort at Western was led by art teacher, Judy Kubas and PE instructor, Jim Hood. On Friday, the H-F students who took part spent much of their day off spending time with Western students on their "Cozy Up to Kindness" pajama day. Earlier in the week, Western students read the children's book, The Kindness Quilt and other books about kindness. They will now take an active role in piecing together the school's own Kindness Quilt.
