Hillary Clinton a No-Show at Chicago Gay Couple's Wedding
Jared Milrad and Nathan Johnson shared in the presidential candidate's big campaign launch moment, and hoped she would join in theirs.
A same-sex couple from Chicago who starred in Hillary Clinton’s campaign launch video and invited the presidential hopeful to their wedding went ahead with the nuptials—without her in the audience.
Jared Milrad and Nathan Johnson appeared in Clinton’s video as representation of her support of gay marriage. After the video aired, they sent her a Twitter invite to their July 19 ceremony at Montrose Harbor, and received a “we’ll see” in response.

But on the big day, it was a big disappointment for the couple of eight years. No Clinton in the crowd.
“She rightfully pointed out that if she came to the wedding, it might distract from our special day so we understand she supports us,” Milrad told CBS.

But, she did send them well wishes via Twitter. And the couple remains unflagging in their support of the candidate.
“To us, this decision demonstrates Secretary Clinton’s commitment to LGBT equality and the type of inclusive leader she would be as president,” Milrad told the Washington Blade, of their appearance in the campaign launch.
