Hillcrest HS Baking Basics Class Wins D228 Cupcake Wars

The Baking Basics students collaborated on designs, recipes, and colors for their entry into Cupcake Wars

Students enrolled in the Baking Basics Class from each D228 school recently competed in a Cupcake War, held at Bremen High School. In honor of the 2017 theme, “Spring,” students created cupcakes that were not only beautiful to look at but delicious too.

The students collaborated on designs, selected recipes, blended colors, and practiced using pastry bags and tips. Their creations included flowers, lady bugs, butterflies and more. The cupcakes were then evaluated on creativity, presentation and taste as well as safety and sanitation, food production, professionalism, creativity, and taste.

Hillcrest High School’s team including L.G. Williams, Sandra Walker, Andre Smith and Eyani George, were the 2017 First Place Winner. Their design included the beauty of spring flowers.
