Hillcrest’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) continues to achieve its goals and reach new heights this year. The BPA students participated in a recent leadership conference where they competed in various events like Business Law and Ethics, Financial Mathematics, and Legal Office Procedures. Teams competed in competitions like Business Marketing and Administrative Support. At the recent Regional Leadership Conference, seven students qualified to move on to the State Leadership Conference state in Oak Brook in March. Five juniors including Tia Pollard, Caleb Henderson, Alleya Arzu, Delois Ivery, and Chaleisa Butler and two seniors including Ruth Robert and Faith Durden placed within the top three in their event. Congratulations to these seven students and BPA Sponsor Mr. Braden for their hard work. Hillcrest’s BPA has also been continuing its relationship with area business. Last week on Thursday night, four of BPA’s juniors were chosen to attend the Hazel Crest Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting. Pierre Tuston, Alleya Arzu, Raqeeb Yarrow, and Darlene Moore-Jones spoke about their involvement in the BPA. Pierre and the others mentioned their extreme excitement for the opportunity to be involved in the chamber meeting. They were even offered jobs and internships not only for themselves, but for the class as a whole. Pierre and Darlene both won individual prizes while Pierre negotiated a TV for the class to use and enjoy. For more information, please contact BPA sponsor Mr. Dave Braden dbraden@bshd228.com
