Hillcrest HS Celebrates Teen Read Week 2015

Local libraries and a bookmobile joined in the celebration

The Hillcrest Instructional Media Center (IMC) celebrated “Get Away @ Your Library Teen Read Week 2015.” This year’s teen reading celebration activities included inviting both the Markham and Grande Prairie Public Libraries to Hillcrest to sign students up for library cards. Representatives from both libraries met with students in the Freshmen Learning Center (FLC) to discuss upcoming programs and to disseminate public library card applications. Another highpoint of the week was for National Honor Society members (NHS) to read excerpts from various books of their choice to IMC students. While enjoying delicious fall refreshments, the Hawks enjoyed listening to five students read. “The special day let me share my love of entertaining others and promote my love of reading,” said Ahnia Ricks, Hillcrest NHS Member. The Markham Public Library book mobile was an additional highlight of the day on Tuesday. The goal of the Hillcrest IMC Teen Read activities was to help promote a life-long love of reading!
