Hillcrest HS DECA Competes at State

Several members of HHS DECA competed at State competition in Rosemont

Members of the Hillcrest High School DECA group competed in DECA’s Chicago South Region Annual Career Development Contest at Moraine Valley Community College. Qualifiers from the regional competition move on to compete in DECA's State event. DECA is an association of marketing students that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Hillcrest students competed against 15 south and southwest suburban high schools in career-oriented role-plays, economics tests and career cluster examinations versus. More than 1,300 DECA members attended the State Level competition. Students who earned a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place medal competed in March at the 70th Annual Illinois DECA Career Development State Conference at the Hyatt in Rosemont, Illinois.

This year’s state-bound members and their events included 3rd Place Regional Medalists: Armani White in Retail Merchandising, and Jibril Hughes in Marketing Management. Christopher Williams also competed in the Hospitality and Tourism category. Crystal McGee, Ariana Matthews, and Kasandra Harper competed in the State Conference with a written submission in the Team Sports and Entertainment Marketing event.
