Hillcrest HS DECA Students Advance to State Competition
DECA State competition will be held in March at the Hyatt Regency Rosemont
The Hillcrest High School DECA group recently competed in DECA’s Chicago South Region Annual Career Development Contest at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois. DECA is an association of marketing students that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Students participated in career-oriented role plays, economics tests and career cluster examinations versus 14 south and southwest suburban high schools. “Since being a part of the DECA program, I’m excited to be learning business skills and I’m meeting new people and contacts,” said Armani White, Hillcrest senior and second-year DECA student. Armani earned 3rd Place in Retail Merchandising, Jibril Hughes earned 3rd Place in Marketing Management, and Crystal McGee, Ariana Mathews and Kasandra Harper placed with a written entry. All the students will advance to the State competition in March at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center in Rosemont.
