Hillcrest HS DECA Students Attend Leadership Conference

More than 800 students from area high schools participated in the conference

The Hillcrest High School DECA Chapter recently attended the 2015 Fall Leadership Conference at the DoubleTree Conference Center in Oak Brook. Students participated in engaging and informative workshops such as Competitive Excellence, Market Madness, Teamwork Tower, and Lesson for Leaders. The conference was attended by multiple high schools from the Chicago area and included two keynote speakers, as well as state officer elections. More than 800 students participated in the professional development conference. Second year DECA student Armani White describes her experience, “During these sessions I not only learned more about myself as a leader but different avenues on how to approach situations and lead. With having the experience and being involved as a voting delegate, it taught me to think more critically with voting and including myself with different groups of people. I was placed in a strategic role and because of this I have become a stronger person in following my own mind and putting in input.” For more information about the DECA program, please contact advisor Mr. Mike Cicirale at mcicirale@bhsd228.com.
