Hillcrest HS Energy Club Celebrates Earth Day
Students planted flowers in front of the school to beautify the entrance

The Hillcrest Energy Club celebrated Earth Day by planting flowers in front of the school to beautify the school entrance. All flowers were donated from Carlin Moran Landscape. “I am proud to say that I helped plant flowers around my school and it felt good. Now when people come to visit our school, it's a nice, welcoming feeling and it's more appealing,” said Energy Club member Brittney Jennings. “None of the kids had ever planted flowers before, so it was a learning experience as well as an opportunity for them to give back to their school,” said Lindsay Lopez, Hillcrest Counselor and Energy Club Sponsor. The Energy Club’s biggest projects for this year were selling t-shirts to raise money for “The Water Project” and helping to make the school more “recycle friendly” by making signs for all of the paper recycle bins in the school. If you would like to donate to the Water Project page, you can visit their fundraising page https://thewaterproject.org/community/profile/hhsenergyclub. The purpose of the Hillcrest Energy Club is to educate its members, other students and staff, and the community about finding ways to save energy and make the school and their lives a greener place.
