Hillcrest HS Entrepreneurship Students Continue to Rock Wall Street
Seven Hillcrest HS students are in the top ten in the State of Illinois

Hillcrest High School is proud to announce that as of today, September 26, seven Hillcrest Hawks are in the Top 10 in the State of Illinois in the Stock Market Game (SMG). They are: Renisia Thurman, Rashawn Moore, Shaqarius McGee, Markel Rose, Delois Ivery, Da'Shanna Atkins and Stanley Baggett. Due to extensive research, these students are monitoring their stocks on their phones throughout the day, trading and selling.
The SMG is sponsored through Northern Illinois University. Their web site asks, "What would you do if you were given $100,000? Would you spend it all at once? Would you think about putting some of it in the bank?" The game teaches students how to invest money so it will grow. The SMG also helps students do better in school. When they participate in The SMG, they are in a real-world situation to practice content and skills taught in math, English Language Arts, economics, social studies, and other school subjects. Most importantly, The Stock Market Game will help students develop positive money habits and prepare for the future!
Mr. Braden’s classes have been participating in The Stock Market Game for several years, and his classes often stand near the top of the statewide rankings. For more information concerning Hillcrest’s participation in The Stock Market Game or its Entrepreneurship class, please contact teacher Mr. David Braden. dbraden@bhsd228.com.
