Hillcrest HS's FCCLA Raises Funds for 'No Kid Hungry' Foundation

Students hosted a bake sale to raise funds to feed hungry children

Hillcrest High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students hosted a charity bake sale for the “No Kid Hungry” Foundation. The students made all of the baked goods from scratch with careful attention to the cause. Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign is ending child hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day. No child should grow up hungry in America, but one in five children struggles with hunger. “The problem of hunger leads to all these other problems. It has a snowball effect. These students fall behind and they never really catch up,” stated Ms. Michelle Youngberg, Hillcrest FCCLA sponsor. The Hillcrest students were thankful to support such a great cause and the baked goods sold out in only one day. “I was proud to watch the group plan, organize, and work together for such a great cause. They did a great job of selling and promoting the event,” said Youngberg.
