Hillcrest HS Hawks Partner with Aunt Martha's Workforce Investment Services

WIA services help teach youth skills essential to success

The Hillcrest’s HAWKS (Have hope, Act with integrity, Work together, Keep on task, Show respect ) program recently partnered with Aunt Martha’s Youth Service Center’s WIA (Workforce Investment Act) services to help eligible youth. WIA provides opportunities to teach our youth skills that are essential to achieve success in both the academic and professional arena. “The program is an awesome opportunity for students between the ages of 16 and 21 to receive free educational and employment services. The program provides tutoring/studying skills, pre-employment skills development, paid work experience, comprehensive guidance/counseling, coupled with summer employment,” stated Dr. Shanyta Russell, Hillcrest Social Worker. Ms. Moore and Mr. Russell from the WIA program, met with 26 Hillcrest students and provided a wealth of information on the program and opportunities. To find out more about the WIA program contact Dr. Russell at srussell@bhsd228.com.
