Hillcrest HS Senior Earns Third Place at Voice of Democracy Contest
Kunoichi Joiner took 3rd Place at the contest held January 9

Senior Kunoichi Joiner took 3rd Place at the district level in the Voice of Democracy contest on January 9, 2016. The Voice of Democracy is the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW’s) premier scholarship program. Each year almost 40,000 high school students compete for scholarships at the local, district, state and national levels. The criteria is based on originality, content and delivery.
Kunoichi is a member and strong competitor for the Hillcrest Speech Team. She used her creative writing and speaking skills to write and present, “My Vision for America.” Kunoichi was awarded scholarship prizes at the local and district level.
“Kunoichi is a student who exemplifies hard work, talent, and creativity combined. She fully applies herself to any project or task, and has been a pleasure to have on the speech team and in class. She will be missed next year!” stated Stephanie Carrero and Denise Poston, Speech Team Coaches.
