Hillcrest HS Students Attend Science Careers in Search of Women Expo

The expo was held at Argonne National Laboratories

Hillcrest High School teachers Mrs. Jane Molek and Mrs. Kristin Cardinal selected six young ladies to represent Hillcrest High School at the Science Careers in Search of Women Expo hosted by Argonne National Laboratories in Lemont, Il.

Participants had the opportunity to tour various lab facilities based on their areas of interest; life sciences, chemical sciences, or physical sciences. One these tours, the young ladies were able to witness a day in the life of a scientist at Argonne. Several scientists were also on hand to explain their areas of study, the paths that led them to pursue their career choices, and even give demonstrations of their work.
The students were enlightened to new fields of study and the opportunities that are available to women who are interested in pursuing careers in the field of science.

For more information concerning student opportunities in scientific careers, please contact science teachers Mrs. Molek or Mrs. Cardinal at jmolek@bhsd228.com or kcardinal@bhsd228.com.
