Hillcrest HS Students Participate in Global Youth Service Day
Global Youth Service Day is the largest community service event in the world

Hillcrest High School Freshman Leadership students Bessie Barlow, Jared Canino, Crystal Currin, Destiny Jackson, Cynthia Navarrete, and Kayla Weddington participated in a Global Youth Service Day Project on Saturday, April 18. The Freshman Leadership students, led by teacher Mrs. Julie Kirk, assisted with spring cleaning and decorating Hillcrest’s Instructional Media Center (IMC). The students reorganized books, dusted shelves, and cleaned. Once they completed those tasks, the students decorated for the spring season. The group decided that it would be a great idea to help in their own school. They wanted to assist in keeping the media center well prepared for learning.
Global Youth Service Day is the largest community service event in the world, and the only event dedicated to celebrating the contributions that young people make to their communities year-round. Several Chicago Southland area schools, churches, and organizations joined forces in a variety of student-led service projects all over the Chicagoland area as part of an international campaign that celebrates the power of young people. Global Youth Service Day is led locally by The Bridge Teen Center in Orland Park. For more information contact The Bridge Teen Center at 708-532-0500 or via email at info@thebridgeteencenter.org.
