Hillcrest HS Students Turn Classroom in French Bistro

Students expanded their knowledge of French cuisine

To celebrate National Foreign Language week, Hillcrest High School French students turned their classroom into a French bistro that you might find in the regional restaurants in villages across France. Mrs. Johnson’s goal was for the students to experience a traditional French meal and practice the proper training that goes into the food preparation and serving. The students dressed as French servers, used the correct language, and acted out the role of French cooks and servers. Using the school’s portable culinary cart, the students even learned to pour and flip a perfect crepe. “The students were so excited to experience cooking and expand their knowledge of the French cuisine. The final enjoyment was the actual eating of the food,” said Mrs. Johnson. Bon appetite!
