Hillcrest HS Students View the Science Storm Exhibit

Students visit the Museum of Science and Industry's Science Storm Exhibit

Students from Hillcrest High School joined students from other D228 schools to view the Science Storm exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. Students were able to enhance their knowledge of concepts through exciting real world exhibits. The museum’s Science Storm exhibit reveals the science behind seven natural phenomena: lightning, fire, tornadoes, avalanches, tsunamis, sunlight and atoms in motions. “These are topics that excite and engage our students; they were curious and inspired,” said Mrs. Julie Kirk, Hillcrest Science Teacher.

The Museum of Science and Industry is a world leader in informal science learning and is dedicated to helping educators create experiences of exceptional quality.

“Not only were students able to recreate a tsunami and walk inside of a suspended airplane, but were also fortunate to have witnessed the hatching of baby chicks! These dramatic exhibits allowed the students to experience the science that is all around us and extend science learning beyond the classroom,” said Mrs. Kirk.
