Hillcrest HS Wins 2nd Place in Biggest, Fastest, Strongest, Lifting Competition

Students enrolled in Strength and Conditioning classes had to earn their spot on the team

Congratulations to the Hillcrest Mighty Hawks for placing second at this year’s Bremen High School District 228’s Biggest, Fastest, Strongest, (BFS) Lifting Competition, which was held at Oak Forest High School. To qualify for this year’s event, students had to be a junior or senior and enrolled in the Strength and Conditioning class. In order to be a finalist for the competition, Hillcrest students had to earn their spot on the team by beating out everyone in their weight class.

“We had a great group of serious contestants this year. We worked hard to prepare; we conditioned and we were a strong group. We succeeded,” said Hillcrest senior Ameer Carter. The students represented Hillcrest perfectly. We were all extremely proud of their dedication,” said Ms. Lane, Hillcrest Physical Education Instructor.

Thank you to all the students that participated in the district event and represented Hillcrest. This year’s contestants were:  Aaron Smith, Ahnia Ricks, Amari Smith, Ameer Carter, Christian Grady, Coyunna Jones, Crystal Hurst, Crystal McGee, Crystana Vega-Allen, Darnel Gilton, Demetrious Monroe, Desiree Wilson, Ezena Cmadu, Francis Brown, Hasan Rahim, Jalen Jenkins, James Lipscomb, Jasmine Bell, Jasmine Dillard, Jasmine McCord, Jaylen Jenkins, Marshawn Bunch, Michael Herring, Najee Sylvester, Shane Greene, Taylor Winbush, Tea Richardson-Smith, Tia Alexander, Tylen Williams, and Tyronne Griffin.
