Hillcrest HS's Luminaries for Loved Ones
Key Club members personalized glowing bags in memory of those affected by cancer

Hillcrest High School Key Club recently displayed “Luminaries for Loved Ones” to honor and celebrate World Cancer Month. Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. The Key Club members personalized glowing bags with a name, photo, and/or message in memory or honor of a friend or loved one who has been affected by cancer. Each luminary candle represents a person. They are our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers, and so many others. The luminaries were beautifully displayed in a specialized darkened area of the building to remember all the lives affected by all forms of this relentless disease. “We have all been affected by cancer one way or another, whether we have personally fought the fight, whether we have lost family or friends, or are supporting a loved one battling any form of this relentless disease,” stated Ms. Amy Trench, Hillcrest Key Club Sponsor.
