Hillcrest HS's Take Your Child to Work Day

The fun-filled day provided children with several inter-active activities

Hillcrest High School hosted the annual “Take Your Child to Work Day” on May 6. This special day gives an opportunity for staff to bond with their children while inspiring them to think about career choices. “It’s important for children to see us in a professional environment, because success can be a positive influence,” said Ms. Rebecca Haustein, Hillcrest Family Consumer Science Teacher.

The Hillcrest Childcare 1 students worked together with staff members to create this fun-filled day with interactive activities involving crafts, food, science, and free-play. The children made Mother’s Day gifts, created their own mud cakes, conducted science experiments, danced to a Spanish song, and even had fun with a piñata.

“It was an exciting day. All the teachers did an amazing job and the kids had a blast seeing where their moms and dads worked. It was a great experience for the Hillcrest students to work with different children from a wide variety of ages. The students worked hard to make sure that every child was inspired and involved. All our planning allowed the day to flow perfectly,” stated Ms. Haustein.
