Hillcrest HS's Young Life Mentoring Club Welcomes Guest Speaker
Author and motivational speaker Richard Taylor empowers, inspires, and celebrates our youth
Hillcrest High School’s Young Life Mentoring Club welcomed Mr. Richard Taylor as their Black History Month guest speaker. He is a published author and motivational speaker touring the country to empower, inspire, and celebrate our youth. Young Life members loved his honest and optimistic message, “Your decisions will be your destiny or your demise”. “I’m getting his books, I can’t wait to read them, said Hillcrest student Heaven McKinley.
Young Life is an international organization that facilitates a Hillcrest club meeting every week. Hillcrest is the only high school in the South Suburban area to have a club facilitated by the high school. Young Life’s motto is “Party with a Purpose.” It provides students a safe, structured environment to discuss relevant issues, set goals, and learn to make positive choices. The students have the opportunity to attend camps and get involved in the community.
“We are excited to continue building our Hillcrest Young Life Club by attending the All-Chicago Club and raising money for the summer camp,” said Mrs. Lauren White, Hillcrest High School Social Worker. “I’m proud of our students for setting a positive example; I’m impressed by our growing number of members.”
