St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Homewood, in conjunction with St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Glenwood, will host a Holy Thursday service reenacting The Last Supper through a dramatization of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting of that name. The service will take place at 7:30 p.m. on April 2. St. Andrew is located at 18850 Riegel Road in Homewood. There is no charge and all are welcome.

The congregation of St. Andrew has hosted this service for the South Suburban Community for several years. Those who attend are invited to be a part of a living portrayal of Jesus’ last night spent with his Apostles, at the moment in which he spoke the words, “One of you will betray me.” As each Apostle steps from his frozen position in the painting, he examines his own relation to Jesus and his doubts about his ability to follow faithfully. Each must ask himself the penetrating question, “Is it I?” The service concludes with all in attendance being invited to the Communion Table, at which the communion elements are distributed by actors portraying Jesus, Peter and John.
