Homeless Man Defecates Near Entrance of Flossmoor Library: Police

The man also left employees a note criticizing their behavior.

A homeless man left Flossmoor Public Library employees a critical note that came with an extra, nasty surprise: his urine and feces, according to police reports.

Thomas Gurskis was arrested Feb. 8 and charged with disorderly conduct after Flossmoor police caught him on video leaving a note in the library’s book drop Feb. 2, as well as urinating and defecating at the scene, the report stated.

Library employees contacted police after finding human feces and urine in front of the staff entrance door Feb. 2, as well as a note inside the book drop, written on a Chase Bank deposit slip, the report stated. The note, which was dated Feb. 7, had Gurskis’s name and social security number on it and stated the following, according to the report: “For All your ruthlessness, obstinacy and scandalous Acts! IS.10 PSO.6 Ex.1 Rev.20.”

On Feb. 8, library employees called police after seeing Gurskis in the library, the report stated. When officers spoke with him, Gurskis admitted to writing the note, as well as voiding his bowels and bladder, the report added. He told police that he and a group of other homeless people were upset that the library was closed Feb. 2. When others in the group began swearing and threatened to blow up the library, Gurskis said he tried to defuse the situation by leaving the note, which he called a “lawsuit,” according to the report.

As police escorted Gurskis from the library, one of the officers brought up the defecation, the report stated.

“I did pooh right over there,” Gurskis told the officer, pointing toward the book return area. “But I didn’t smear it on the door.”
