Homewood Farmers Market Opens Soon, Will Run Through October

HOMEWOOD, IL — Farmers Market season is fast approaching in Homewood, where events will take place in the heart of downtown at Martin Avenue Square every Saturday morning and Wednesday night until the middle of October.

The kickoff event in 2018 will run from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 26.

Opening day festivities will include live entertainment by James Hart Band and Jazz Band from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by Chris Denman from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be children’s entertainment including a toddler tent filled with age-appropriate activities. LaVoute will offer summer time refreshments. New Homewood Farmers' Market reusable bags will be available as well.

The first Wednesday market is slated for June 6.

Both markets feature a wide assortment of regional farmers, non-profit organization booths, PopUpSCIENCE by the Homewood Science Center and live music, according to a news release from the village of Homewood. The last Saturday of the month features the Hunt & Gather market for unique vintage and hand-crafted wares.

“After this long cold spring the community is ready to come together in the sunshine at the Homewood Farmer’s Market,” said Homewood Special Events Manager Allisa Opyd. “Last year’s Wednesday night market was extremely successful so we’re starting that earlier this year. We are also pleased that the Homewood Science Center will have its doors open at so many of our markets including the Wednesday nights for a fuller family experience.”
