Homewood Farmers Market Opens for Season May 23
This year's market also includes a new feature on select days.

Save the date, Homewood residents. Your farmers market will be back in town Saturday, May 23.
New this year will be a “Hunt and Gather” market the last Saturday of each month. Homewood Farmers Market features a wide variety of local and organic produce, baked goods and prepared foods as well as informational booths by area non-profits. The ”Hunt and Gather” market showcases antiques, crafts, clothing and unique artisans.
“Homewood’s Farmers Market offers a rich assortment of produce, vendors and community organizations,” said Homewood Farmers Market Manager Kate Duff. “This year we are very pleased to welcome back many returning vendors and introduce some new ones to the community. Plus, having the Hunt and Gather Market will add extra incentive to come out on a Saturday morning!”

The Homewood farmers market features farm-fresh items from Benton Harbor Bee Co., Bloomberg Gardens, Locavore Farm, Lyons Fruit Farm and Zeldenrust Farm Marketamong others; confections from Bakewell Bakery and Enjoy Bakeshop; cheese from Stamper Cheese; wines from Aged 2 Perfection; body products by Homewood Kitchen Gardens’ and prepared foods from Sonoma Farms, TJ’s Kettle Corn and Cynthia’s Gumbo.
The hunt and gather market is a curated event, happening the last Saturday of each month. This market features local artisans and shopkeepers selling unique items such as art, jewelry, furniture, antiques, clothing, salvaged treasures, home goods and more. The Hunt and Gather Market will take place May 30, June 27, July 25, Aug. 29 and Sept. 26.

In celebration of the main market opening, on May 23 only patrons can receive a reusable Homewood Farmers Market shopping bag. Bags are available on a first-come, first-serve basis with a receipt from a purchase made within at least 30 days at a Homewood business.
Homewood Farmers Market also boasts the return of “Your Community ... At The Market.” Each week space is reserved for local non-profits and other community groups reach a wider audience. Local business owners can use the market to promote their business, through exhibit space and sponsorship opportunities. Nonprofits slotted for booths include HF Soccer Club, Irons Oaks Foundation and Homewood Public Library as well as businesses South Suburban Garden Girl, Back Safety and Wellness Center among others.
Homewood Farmers Market will also host Touch of Green environmental programs with electronic recycling, paper shredding, and more. Homewood has partnered again with ATEN (Assistive Technology Exchange Network) for monthly electronic recycling. ATEN will be at the Farmers Market from 8 to 11 a.m. on June 20, July 18, August 22, and September 26.
