HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR, IL — A crowd of students staged a walkout at Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School on Wednesday morning about concerns of sexual assault and harassment among students, a school district spokesperson confirmed to Patch on Thursday.

A few hundred students participated in the walkout, and school officials were stationed outside to help ensure the safety of those involved in the demonstration. Students were allowed to participate freely and were not reprimanded for their participation in the walkout, according to the district.
